Took a break from setting up all the research/correspondence log stuff to have a hunt for my grandfather's Canadian naturalization papers and hit pay dirt! I found both the original and a certified copy. I've scanned and posted them to Louis Switzer's source documents page.
Also found my mother's birth certificate and baptismal certificate, so it really does pay to have a look around the house (or your parent's house) for those little treasures.
The last questions posted were regarding my grandparents birth certificates - specifically can I get a copy? I've since discovered that the Illinois Department of Public Health only has birth records from 1916 to the present. For birth records prior to 1916, the county clerk where the birth occurred must be contacted. In this case that's Fulton Co. and McDonough county. This will be my first attempt at written correspondence with records agencies - hopefully it will be a positive one.
